Pages vs Lists vs Resources vs News in HarvardSites (VIDEO)

This tutorial helps you understand the different content types available in HarvardSites Drupal. You will learn how to distinguish between Pages, Listing Pages, Resources, and News items to make informed content decisions. Each content type is designed for a different kind of content and behavior. Pages, Resources, Listing Pages, and News each play different roles in the system. Pages are used for unique, mostly static content. Resources are structured content items like PDFs, guides, and downloadable materials. The same resource can also appear in different places across the site.

Listing pages display collections of content. They are not the content itself. News content is time-based and usually appears in chronological feeds and listings. A common mistake is creating a regular page for content that should appear dynamically elsewhere. If the content should appear dynamically in multiple places, it probably shouldn't be just a page. Content types work together to organize and display information across the site. Choosing the right content type becomes easier once you realize how your components and content are organized.
