Creating a Person Directory in HarvardSites (VIDEO)
This video explains how to create a basic list of people or directory on your site.
This tutorial helps you create a Person Directory in HarvardSites. It helps you display Person Profiles in a single place so visitors can easily find faculty, staff, and researchers. A Person Directory brings together multiple Person Profiles on a single page, making it easier for visitors to browse your people.
A directory doesn't store people. It displays Person Profiles you've already created. Before creating a directory, make sure your person profiles have already been created and published. Start by creating a standard page that will hold your directory. Give your directory a clear title that describes the group of people it contains. Add a short introduction so visitors understand who they're about to meet.
Next, to add a Person Listing Component to display your profiles, choose Add a Component. Select the Person List Component. Configure the listing to display the Person Profiles you want visitors to see. The directory automatically displays the matching Person Profiles.
Publish the page when you're ready to make it available to visitors. When you update a Person Profile, the directory reflects those changes automatically. Think of Person Profiles as the content and the directory as the page that displays that content. A well organized directory helps visitors quickly find the people they're looking for while keeping your content consistent and easy to maintain.
