## How to work with the Person content type

The Person content type is useful for creating informational person pages that can be linked with other content types, such as News and Publications, and for creating people directories.

### Step 1: Create a person page

1. Use the platform menu to navigate to **Content > Add Content > Person**.

### Step 2: Add person content

1. Enter the full name of the person in the **Name** fields. **First Name** and **Last Name** are required.
2. Enter the person’s **Professional Title**. Select the **Add another item** button to add additional titles and use the **Move** control to drag and reorder titles.
3. Click within the **Bio** area. You can add content, images, and quotes within this section (see [Text Editor](/resource/text-editor "Text Editor") for details about using the toolbar and text input area). Add biographical details for the person in this area.
    1. If you would like to add an image within your content, click on the media icon (see [Adding an image](/adding-an-image "Adding an image") for instructions for adding an image using the text editor).
    2. Format all of your content and images using the text editor.
4. Add additional components to the person page by selecting the **Choose component** button in the **Additional Content** section (see [Adding a component](/adding-component "Adding a component") for instructions on how to add a component). Components added to this section will display in the main content area of the page.
5. Add a profile image (headshot) by selecting the **Add media** button in the **Headshot** section. You can select an image from the media library or upload a new image (see [Media Library](/resource/media-library "Media Library") for details about working with the media library).
    1. The optimal image size (in pixels) for a profile image is 1380 x 1730 (see [Image Sizes](/resource/image-sizes-old "Image Sizes") for more details).
6. Provide the following optional contact details:
    1. **Email:** The full email address to contact the person.
    2. **Contact Phone:** The phone number of the person, formatted for readability, for example, (555) 555-5555.
    3. **Additional Information:** Details about connecting with the person, including office hours and administrative contacts.
    4. **Location:** Office location, building name, or other location details.
7. Provide links to learn more about the person:
    1. **Website URL:** The **Link text** and **URL** for the person’s website. Select the **Add another item** button to add additional websites and use the **Move** control to drag and reorder websites.
    2. **Social links:** The URLs for the person’s social media sites, including Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram, Youtube, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, and custom social media links.

### Step 3: Configure person page settings

1. Add a descriptive **Excerpt** to display on person lists and search results.
2. We also recommend assigning taxonomy terms to help filter person lists and search results (see [Taxonomy best practices](/resource/taxonomy-best-practices "Taxonomy Best Practices") and [Managing taxonomies](/managing-taxonomies "Managing taxonomies") for guidance on creating and using taxonomies).
3. The first time you save the person profile, we recommend you save as a **Draft** so that you can preview the person page and its links before publishing it to your site (see [Publish Status](/resource/publish-status "Publish Status") for details about different publication statuses).
