# What layout region should I use for components?

The **Page** content type has three layout regions that support components:

- **Top Region:** The **Top Region** is for banners, like a **Hero** component or **50/50 Card**, that establish the tone and topic of the page.
- **Main Region:** Components added to the **Additional Content** area of the **Main Region** augment and expand on the main narrative, for example, with pull quotes, data tables, or image mosaics.
- **Bottom Region**: The **Bottom Region** spans the width of the browser window and provides a space for supplementary content, such as a list of related content.

Other content types have a **Main Region** with an **Additional Content** area and, in some cases, a **Bottom Region**.

**Site Administrators** can add components to a **Global Content** region right above the **Site Footer.** Components added to this section display across the content type. For example, the **News** content type might have a **News List** that appears at the bottom of all **News** pages.
